Notts County Cricket Club have signed Sri Lankan seamer Binura Fernando to replace the injured Mohammad Ali [1].

The addition of Fernando comes at a critical juncture as the club seeks to maintain its competitive edge during the final stages of the T20 Blast. Replacing a key player like Ali requires an immediate impact to ensure the team remains a contender for the title.

Fernando is available to play in the last two [1] group games and the subsequent knockout stage of the tournament. The move allows the club to bolster its bowling attack quickly following Ali's injury [1], [2].

"Binura is a talented young bowler and we’re delighted to bring him into the squad for the remainder of the group stage and the knockout stages," said Notts head coach Stephen J Broadbridge [2].

The club leadership believes the Sri Lankan player brings a versatile skill set to the roster. "He’s a good all-rounder and we think he can add some value to the team," said Notts chairman Anil Khanna [2].

Fernando expressed his readiness to contribute to the team's success in the short-format competition. "I’m excited to join Notts and I’m looking forward to playing in the T20 Blast," said Binura Fernando [3].

The signing ensures that Notts County does not enter the high-stakes knockout phase with a depleted bowling rotation. By securing a player with international experience, the club aims to mitigate the loss of Ali's specific contributions to the attack.

"Binura is a talented young bowler and we’re delighted to bring him into the squad."

The signing of Binura Fernando reflects the high-pressure nature of the T20 Blast, where injury replacements must be integrated rapidly. By opting for an international seamer, Notts County is prioritizing immediate experience and versatility to avoid a drop in performance during the knockout stages.
