Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke commissioned the 10.4-kilometre [1] Edunabon-Tonkere road on Saturday in the Ife North Local Government Area.
The project aims to end decades of infrastructure neglect for residents of the region. Improved road access is expected to facilitate easier movement for local commuters and enhance the transport of goods, and services within the local government area.
The commissioning ceremony took place along the newly completed route. The road spans 10.4 kilometres [1], providing a paved connection between the communities of Edunabon and Tonkere.
According to official statements obtained in Osogbo, the project was designed to address the long-standing lack of viable roads in the area. The governor said the completion of the road marks a shift toward prioritizing rural infrastructure to support the economic activities of local residents.
Local residents have historically struggled with poor road conditions that hindered access to markets and healthcare facilities. The new infrastructure is intended to resolve these bottlenecks by providing a reliable transit corridor through Ife North.
