Two earthquakes struck the Junín region of Peru on Saturday night, killing at least six people and injuring 21 [1, 2].

According to Peru's National Seismological Centre, the first quake registered a magnitude of 5.1 at a depth of 24 km [1, 3]. While some reports cited a single magnitude of 5.6 [3] or 5.5 [2], the National Seismological Centre provided the specific dual-magnitude data.
The impact on the local population was extensive. Nearly 300 people were affected by the tremors [3]. The quakes destroyed 48 homes in the region [3].
