Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann (AAP) launched the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna to provide monthly financial assistance to women across the state [1].
The program aims to foster financial empowerment and welfare support for women, specifically targeting marginalized groups to reduce economic disparity [1, 2].
According to government details, the first installments were credited on July 1, 2024 [1, 2, 3]. The scheme is designed to cover approximately 97% of women in Punjab [3].
Payment structures vary by category. Women from general categories receive a lump sum of ₹3,000 to cover the first three months of the program [1]. Dalit mothers and sisters receive a higher lump sum of ₹4,500 for the same three-month period [1].
Other reports indicate a standardized monthly benefit of ₹1,000 per woman starting from July 1, 2024 [3].
"The first installment under the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna will be credited on July 1," Mann said [1].
AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal also highlighted the rollout, and said that women in Punjab would receive three months of financial aid on that date [2].
The program, also referred to as the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, follows a cabinet clearance that set the registration process to begin on Baisakhi [2].
“"The first installment under the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna will be credited on July 1."”
The implementation of the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna represents a strategic shift toward direct benefit transfers for women in Punjab. By providing tiered payments that favor Dalit women, the government is explicitly linking social welfare to caste-based equity. The scale of the program—targeting nearly the entire female population—suggests a significant budgetary commitment to social safety nets in the region.
