Questor Technology Inc. received a $305,060 [1] funding contribution on Aug. 27 to develop a waste heat power system.
The investment targets the creation of technology that allows industrial operators to convert existing waste heat into clean electricity. This process represents a significant growth opportunity for the company as industries seek to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprints.
The funding comes from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) [1]. The capital is designated for the research and development of an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) heat-to-power system with a power rating of 1,500 kW [1].
Based in Calgary, Alberta, Questor Technology (TSX-V: QST) is focusing on the scalability of this system to serve various industrial sectors. While some reports describe this as the final funding contribution [4], others characterize it as the remaining portion of the project's support [1].
"This funding enables Questor to advance a technology built to help industrial operators generate clean power from waste heat they are already producing," Mike Lindsay, interim president and chief executive officer, said.
The project aims to capture thermal energy that is typically lost during industrial processes. By utilizing the ORC system, the company intends to provide a viable path for factories and plants to lower their operational costs, and generate power on-site.
