Diamond☆Yukai, vocalist for the rock band RED WARRIORS, announced that the group will perform a special concert at the Nippon Budokan on March 14, 2027 [1].

The announcement marks the end of a three-decade period during which the band was banned from the venue. For many Japanese artists, the Nippon Budokan represents a pinnacle of professional achievement and a symbol of mainstream acceptance in the music industry.

Speaking during a press conference at the RED WARRIORS FESTIVAL RED ROCKS this Wednesday, Diamond☆Yukai addressed the long-standing restriction. He said the ban had been the primary obstacle for the group, stating, "Actually, the biggest problem was that we were banned from entering" [2].

The vocalist described the venue as a "sacred place" for the band [1]. He contrasted the typical reasons artists perform at the Budokan, such as receiving lifetime achievement awards, with the unique circumstances of his band's return.

"Budokan is a place where you receive lifetime achievement awards and things like that," Diamond☆Yukai said. "In our case, we can finally stand in the Budokan along with the lifting of the ban after 30 years" [2].

The upcoming performance comes as the band celebrates its 40th anniversary since its major debut in 2026 [1]. The 30-year ban [2] had prevented the group from playing at the Chiyoda Ward venue in Tokyo for the majority of their career.

Diamond☆Yukai said the upcoming show will serve as a commemorative stage to mark the resolution of the conflict with the venue management.

"This Budokan is a sacred place for us."

The lifting of a 30-year ban at the Nippon Budokan is a rare occurrence in the Japanese music industry, where venue restrictions are often strictly enforced. By scheduling this performance alongside their 40th anniversary, RED WARRIORS is transforming a historical professional setback into a narrative of redemption and persistence, leveraging the venue's prestige to amplify the band's legacy.
