The storms hit the region in waves between late June and late July. One series of events on June 30 reportedly caused damage in 21 cities across the south of Brazil [1]. Local authorities have had to cancel classes due to the severity of the weather. One such instance of school cancellations occurred following heavy rain on July 28 [5].
