J.K. Rowling has condemned Amnesty International for labeling her women-only sexual-violence support centre as "anti-rights."

Rowling founded Beira’s Place in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2022 [1]. The centre provides specialized support for women who have experienced sexual violence. Amnesty International published a report in 2023 that described the women-only service as discriminatory toward transgender people [2]. Amnesty International later responded to the criticism. A spokesperson for the organization said, "We regret the language used in the report and have removed the reference to Beira’s Place as ‘anti-rights’" [5].

Despite this, some reports suggest a contradiction remains regarding whether the label has been fully excised from all Amnesty communications [6].
