Samsung introduced its Vitals health-monitoring suite during the Unpacked 2026 event in Seoul, South Korea.

The update represents a strategic push to broaden Samsung's health-tracking portfolio. By offering more preventative insights, the company aims to compete more effectively with Apple's wearable ecosystem.

The Vitals suite includes four [1] new preventative health metrics: Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, and Fitness Index, along with a fourth metric. These tools are designed to provide users with a more comprehensive view of their physiological state and recovery needs.

These features will debut as part of the Samsung Health Assistant beta. The beta rollout is planned for August 2026 [2].

The new health metrics will be available on the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 [3]. Reports also indicate the suite may be available on the newly unveiled Galaxy Watch 9 [4], which Samsung designed for effortless health monitoring.

Samsung said the hardware and software updates during the 2026 [5] event signal a shift toward proactive health management. The company is positioning its wearables not just as fitness trackers, but as preventative health tools that can alert users to changes in their baseline vitals before they become symptomatic.

Samsung is shifting its wearable strategy from reactive data collection to preventative health analytics. By introducing aggregated scores like the Health Score and Fitness Index, the company is attempting to simplify complex biometric data into actionable insights, directly challenging Apple's dominance in the high-end health-tracking market.
