Sega has announced Crazy Taxi: World Tour, a new entry in the long-running arcade series featuring multiplayer gameplay and a classic soundtrack.
The revival marks a return to the uncomplicated arcade experience that defined the original series. By integrating modern multiplayer features, Sega aims to modernize the franchise while retaining the high-energy driving mechanics that appealed to previous generations.
The game was officially unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 [1], while the multiplayer components were showcased for the first time at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany [2]. Series creator Kenji Kanno is involved in the new project, which brings back returning drivers to a larger scale than the original title [3].
Early glimpses of the title have already circulated among the gaming community. Approximately 15 minutes of gameplay footage was previously shown at Summer Game Fest [4].
Sega will begin a closed network test for the title on Sept. 11, 2026 [5]. This testing phase will allow the developer to refine the multiplayer stability before the wider launch. Following the test period, the full release of Crazy Taxi: World Tour is slated for 2027 [6].
The title is expected to launch across multiple platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC. Sega said the goal of the project is to offer a fresh experience that maintains the core identity of the franchise.
