Known as the "Disaster Message Map," the service displays the locations from which emergency texts were sent [1, 2]. It also identifies hazard zones related to heavy rain and heatwaves, highlights movement routes, and provides contact details for the officials responsible for the alerts [1, 2].
The service was developed through the AI Government Lab. According to the ministry, the time from the initial idea to the implementation of an AI-based service now takes only two to three days [1]. This rapid development cycle allows the government to test prototypes quickly to determine if a feature is necessary and effective in the field [1].
Cho Won-gap, head of the AI Policy Division at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said the AI Government Lab first creates working prototypes to safely verify if the functions are truly needed and effective on the ground [1].
