Strategy CEO Phong Le said the company will resume accumulating Bitcoin later this year [1, 2].
The move signals a return to an aggressive acquisition strategy for the U.S.-based company after a period of tactical selling to stabilize its treasury.
Le said the company paused its purchases to build U.S. dollar reserves. This temporary sell-off was a deliberate effort to balance the company's treasury strategy with its obligations to shareholders [4, 5].
Despite the pause, the company has maintained a net-positive acquisition rate. Le said Strategy has purchased approximately 175,000 BTC this year while selling roughly 7,000 BTC [3].
The company, which trades on the NASDAQ under the ticker MSTR, has positioned itself as a primary vehicle for institutional exposure to the cryptocurrency. Le said the company is an amplified Bitcoin play [4].
"We'll get back to buying more," Le said [4].
Le said Strategy intends to continue growing its Bitcoin holdings again this year [3]. The timing of the resumption remains unspecified, though it is expected before the end of 2026 [1, 2].
“"We'll get back to buying more."”
By balancing Bitcoin accumulation with U.S. dollar reserves, Strategy is attempting to mitigate the volatility risks associated with a single-asset treasury. This approach allows the company to maintain its identity as a Bitcoin proxy while ensuring it has the liquidity necessary to meet corporate obligations without being forced to sell assets during market downturns.
