Manickam Tagore, a Congress MP and Tamil Nadu Congress Chief, said the government is using Parliament to push its own ideas without debate.
The accusations highlight a growing rift between the ruling party and the Opposition over the ability to hold the executive accountable for national education crises. Tagore said the legislative process is being bypassed to avoid scrutiny on critical public issues.
In an interview with India Today, Tagore said the government only wants to "bulldoze their ideas into the Parliament." He said the administration is not allowing the Opposition to raise questions regarding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and various paper leaks.
Tagore said the Lok Sabha had been adjourned six times [1]—a sign of the government's reluctance to engage in meaningful dialogue. He said the current environment prevents the Opposition from seeking accountability from the Education Minister regarding these systemic failures in the examination process.
According to Tagore, the government is actively preventing the Opposition from debating the impact of paper leaks on students. This blockade, he said, ensures that the administration can move forward with its legislative agenda without addressing the grievances of the youth, or the failures of the educational oversight bodies.
Tagore said the role of the Parliament is to serve as a forum for questioning and deliberation. By limiting these opportunities, he said the government is undermining the democratic function of the house to avoid political embarrassment over the NEET controversy.

This clash reflects a broader tension in Indian governance where the Opposition views frequent parliamentary adjournments as a strategic tool used by the majority to avoid accountability.
