Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy laid the foundation stone for four-lane road projects on Tuesday.
The infrastructure investment aims to reduce congestion and stimulate economic growth in rapidly developing regions of the state. By expanding road capacity, the government intends to improve connectivity between key assembly constituencies.
The projects carry a total cost of ₹338 crore [1], according to official reports. The construction will span Ibrahimpatnam, Medchal, and Maheshwaram Assembly constituencies in the R.R. district [1]. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to modernize the state's transport network and support urban expansion.
One project involves the development of 149 km of roadway [2]. The minister said the government is focusing on resolving traffic bottlenecks [2]. These improvements are intended to streamline the flow of goods and people across the region.
Reddy also highlighted the importance of political cooperation in executing these works. He called for "collective efforts by elected representatives across party lines for development" [1], Reddy said.
The initiative targets areas experiencing high growth and increased vehicle density. The four-lane design is expected to replace narrower roads that have struggled to keep pace with the region's population growth.
“"government is focusing on resolving traffic bottlenecks"”
The focus on the Ibrahimpatnam, Medchal, and Maheshwaram areas indicates a strategic priority to support the industrial and residential corridors surrounding the metropolitan hub. By investing ₹338 crore into four-lane expansions, the Telangana government is attempting to prevent infrastructure lag, where urban sprawl outpaces road capacity, thereby ensuring that traffic congestion does not stifle regional economic productivity.
