Flash floods in the Texas Hill Country have left at least two people dead and forced hundreds of emergency water rescues this week [1, 3].

Torrential rains dumped over two feet of water in just a few days [5], triggering flash-flood emergencies across the state. The surge caused the Guadalupe River to rise by more than 30 feet [4], overwhelming local infrastructure and trapping residents in their homes and vehicles.
Emergency responders have conducted more than 230 water rescues [3] as river levels peaked. The flooding was most severe near Camp Mystic, where authorities coordinated evacuations to move residents and visitors out of the path of the rising waters [2].
