The accident occurred Saturday morning near Hon May Rut Ngoai Island in the An Thoi sea area, located off Phu Quoc, Vietnam [1, 2]. A tourist boat capsized in the region, resulting in multiple fatalities among the Indian nationals on board [1, 2].
Chief Minister Joseph Vijay expressed his distress over the incident. "I am deeply saddened and distressed to learn of the boat accident that occurred this morning near Hon May Rut Ngoai Island in the An Thoi sea area of Vietnam, in which Indian tourists, including those from Tamil Nadu and other states, lost their lives," Vijay said [1].
The Chief Minister directed state officials to work closely with the Indian Embassy to ensure that the affected families receive necessary aid [2]. He also ordered the coordination of efforts to repatriate the bodies of the deceased back to India [2].
In a separate statement, Vijay said he was deeply saddened to learn that tourists from various Indian states were among those killed after the vessel met with an accident on Saturday morning [2].
