Ukraine is expecting unseasonably warm weather with temperatures reaching up to 30°C across parts of the country on May 6 [1].
This rapid shift follows a recent cold spell that included isolated snowfall, signaling an abrupt transition to summer-like conditions. Such volatility in spring patterns reflects broader climate trends affecting the region.
The Ukrhydrometcenter said that the weather will be mostly cloudy and rain-free across the country [1, 2, 3]. In the Kyiv region, air temperatures are expected to peak at 29°C [4].
Similar conditions are forecast for other major hubs, including Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, and Odesa [5, 6, 7]. In Zaporizhzhia, the sky is expected to remain cloudy, though no precipitation is forecast [8].
Wind patterns will be primarily south-westerly, ranging from five to 10 meters per second [2]. However, the agency said that gusts could reach 15 to 20 meters per second in the far west of the country [2].
"After the cold, and in some places even snow, the country was covered by almost summer heat — up to plus thirty in some places," a TSN reporter said [1].
The agency said that the air in the Kyiv region would maximally warm to 29°C [4]. This temperature range marks a significant departure from typical May averages for the region.

The sudden transition from snowfall to 30°C temperatures within a short window highlights the increasing instability of seasonal transitions in Eastern Europe. This volatility can disrupt agricultural cycles and put pressure on energy infrastructure as the country shifts rapidly from heating to cooling needs.
