Ukraine will experience generally milder and comfortable weather on July 5, 2026, with temperatures reaching up to 28°C [2].
This shift in atmospheric conditions marks the end of a previous heat wave, bringing a cooler air mass that alters the regional climate patterns across the country.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center (UGMC) said that precipitation and related weather phenomena will cease across most of Ukraine on July 5, with the exception of the eastern and north-eastern regions [6]. While many areas will remain sunny, some regions are still expected to see short showers and possible thunderstorms [5].
In the Kyiv region, forecasts indicate a dry day with temperatures peaking at 28°C [2]. However, regional reports vary, as some sources suggest that rain may still reach the capital during the transition from July 4 to July 5.
Wind conditions will be characterized by north-west winds moving at seven to 12 m/s [3]. In certain regions, the UGMC said that wind gusts could reach speeds of 15-20 m/s [4].
Weather services, including the Sinoptik portal, said that Kyiv experienced a cloudy morning on July 4 that transitioned into a clear day and cloudless evening. Heavy night rain was expected to continue into the morning of July 4 before ending by midday.
The UGMC said that on July 3 and 4, most regions faced moderate to significant rains, thunderstorms, and occasional hail, alongside squalls of 15-20 m/s [1]. The transition to the July 5 forecast represents a stabilization of weather for the majority of the population.
“Temperatures will reach 28°C as a cooler air mass ends a recent heat wave.”
The transition from a severe heat wave to milder temperatures and localized precipitation indicates a seasonal atmospheric shift. While the majority of the country enters a period of stable, comfortable weather, the persistence of thunderstorms and high wind gusts in the east and north-east suggests that the cooler air mass is interacting with remaining warm pockets, creating regional instability.
