U.S. spot Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds saw their strongest daily inflows in months on Aug. 19 [1].

This surge indicates a shift in investor sentiment as a broad market rally forced bearish traders to exit their positions. The movement suggests renewed institutional appetite for digital assets following a period of stagnation.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs drew $517.19 million [4], while Ether ETFs attracted $189 million [1] during the single-day period. This activity coincided with a price rally that erased approximately $2.7 billion in short-bet positions [1].

The momentum continued into the following day. On Aug. 20, spot Bitcoin ETFs drew $606 million [5] and Ether ETFs pulled in $221 million [6]. This two-day streak highlighted a rapid increase in demand for regulated crypto investment vehicles.

Weekly data for the period of Aug. 17 through Aug. 21 shows a significant accumulation of assets. Net inflows for Bitcoin ETFs reached $1.92 billion [7], while Ether ETFs saw net inflows of $697.18 million [8].

For the month of August, total Bitcoin ETF inflows have reached $2.07 billion to date [9]. The trend remained strong through the end of the week, with Bitcoin ETFs recording an inflow of $608.3 million on Thursday [10].

Market analysts said that the rally in cryptocurrency prices prompted investors to move capital into spot ETFs. This shift effectively wiped out traders who had bet on the price of these assets falling.

Bitcoin and Ether ETFs saw their strongest daily inflows in months on Aug. 19.

The simultaneous surge in both Bitcoin and Ether ETFs suggests a broad-based recovery in the crypto market rather than a rally limited to a single asset. The erasure of billions in short positions indicates a 'short squeeze,' where rising prices force bearish traders to buy back assets to cover losses, further accelerating the upward price momentum.
