U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said the partnership between the U.S. and India will continue to grow following meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The diplomatic engagement occurs during a four-day [1] visit to India by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This visit signals a concerted effort by the U.S. administration to solidify bilateral ties and strategic cooperation in the region.
Gor said he discussed bilateral issues with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The ambassador said the current trajectory of the relationship is important, noting that the U.S. deeply cares about the bond with India.
During a recent interview, Gor highlighted several milestones achieved since his arrival in the country a few months ago. He said that the two nations have settled their trade deal and that India has joined Pax Silica.
“It's a relationship we deeply care about... We have our QUAD meeting,” Gor said. “Since I arrived here a few months ago, we have settled our trade deal. India has joined Pax Silica, investment is at record levels and this partnership will continue to grow.”
The ambassador said that the U.S. is excited to build stronger ties with India. The visit by Secretary Rubio serves as a primary vehicle for advancing these goals through high-level diplomatic dialogue.
Gor's comments align with the broader strategic objective of enhancing security and economic cooperation. The mention of the QUAD meeting underscores the geopolitical framework through which the U.S. and India coordinate their efforts in the Indo-Pacific.
“this partnership will continue to grow”
The focus on trade settlements, the Pax Silica agreement, and the QUAD framework indicates a shift toward institutionalizing the U.S.-India relationship. By prioritizing record investment and high-level visits, the U.S. is attempting to anchor India as a primary strategic partner to balance regional influence in Asia.
