Wistron has opened a US$700 million [1] factory in Fort Worth, Texas, to assemble advanced Nvidia AI super-chips.
The facility marks a significant shift in the AI hardware supply chain by bringing mass production of high-end processors to U.S. soil. This move supports a broader effort to revitalize American manufacturing of AI hardware and meet the surging global demand for AI servers [2, 3].
The new plant covers 30,000 square meters [4]. It serves as the first U.S. site dedicated to the mass production of Nvidia’s GB300 Grace Blackwell chips [5]. In addition to the Grace Blackwell line, the facility will assemble Vera Rubin super-chips [1, 3].
Wistron, a Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer, is scaling its domestic footprint rapidly. The company has already announced plans for a second facility, which is expected to be twice the size of the first plant [4].
The expansion comes as Nvidia seeks to diversify its production locations to ensure a steady supply of the hardware powering generative AI. By partnering with Wistron for a Texas-based operation, the companies reduce reliance on overseas assembly for critical AI infrastructure [2].
