Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in Gorakhpur to encourage citizens to display the national flag at home.
The initiative seeks to foster patriotism across the country by reminding the public of the costs of national sovereignty. By encouraging the widespread display of the flag, the government aims to create a visible, collective tribute to the individuals who fought for independence.
Adityanath led a Tiranga Yatra in Gorakhpur as part of the larger campaign. He said the tricolour is the name of an indelible saga of freedom fighters.
The campaign precedes the celebration of India's 80th Independence Day on Aug. 15, 2023 [1]. Adityanath said the national flag is a symbol of India's honour, pride, and glory.
While Adityanath spearheaded the effort in Uttar Pradesh, the campaign has seen a broader rollout across various states. In Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, Governor KT Parnaik and CM Pema Khandu also launched the campaign to promote national unity.
Adityanath said it is a matter of pride that citizens can now display the national flag at their homes. The campaign emphasizes that the act of hoisting the flag is not merely a formality but a way to honor the sacrifices made by previous generations.
The Tiranga Yatra in Gorakhpur took place on a Monday during the second week of August. The event served as a catalyst for local participation in the national movement, linking regional leadership to the federal goal of increasing civic engagement with national symbols.
